April Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Month
Friday, April 11, 2014
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Dennis & Judith Jones Education & Visitors Center, Forest Park
Strong families are the foundation of strong communities and have been a cornerstone of St. Louis over its 250 years. Join the St. Louis Family & Community Partnership and over 250 organizations, individuals and elected officials as we recommit to promoting strong families and keeping children safe during our eighth annual April Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Month event on Friday, April 11. All are invited to attend this free event celebrating St. Louis' families and children. The program will include an address by an adult who benefited from family support services as a child, along with proclamations from area elected officials and music by a youth group. KMOX's Debbie Monterrey will emcee. For this special observance of StL250 Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Month 2014, we invite at least 250 organizations, churches and others in the community to recommit to promoting strong families and keeping children safe. Ways to support this include: 1) post a Blue Ribbon/StL250 "We support strong families and safe children" yard sign during April; 2) distribute Blue Ribbon pins and bookmarks; and 3) attend the April 11 Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Month event. The St. Louis Family & Community Partnership is a coalition of child-serving agencies, elected officials, parents and others, dedicated to preventing child abuse and ensuring that all children have safe, supportive and permanent homes. The Partnership is staffed by Vision for Children at Risk, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the well-being of children across the St. Louis area.
