Diamond Gutherie’s story with ARCHS’ funded Youth and Family Center program (YFC). One of YFC’s first-grade afterschool scholars, Diamond Gutherie, began the program reading at a kindergarten level. Since the program’s start, Diamond has shown remarkable progress, improving his ability to recite beginning sight words. He practices blending sounds to form words. YFC staff have noticed Diamond’s excitement and eagerness to continue learning and mastering new words. It’s not about where you start—it’s about how you finish! Way to go, DJ (Diamond)!
